Do you use your Google+ name for YouTube?
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:50 AM - Forum: Google+ - Replies (1)

Do you have your real name set on your YouTube account like you do on Google+? I have my name in full glory whenever I use YouTube and I think Google really wants to push for people to use their real names. Do you like this? Or do you prefer a username rather than your actual name?

  Get you a job?
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:49 AM - Forum: LinkedIn - Replies (1)

Does having a LinkedIn profile/account help you get better jobs? I saw another thread that asked a similar question, but about helping with sites and so on. But does it help you get actual jobs? I always pictured LinkedIn like a bit resume site.

If you ran the internet, what would you do?
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:46 AM - Forum: Internet related - Replies (1)

If you were to ever run the internet yourself, what would you do? Personally I would do various things and they would be;

1. Keep it open: There's been talks that the US gov wants to make it less open, so that's something I hope never happens.

2. Up the speed: The US is cheated out of internet speeds, we get like 50MB internet while Japan and some other countries get ten times that probably.

3. PCs with routers in them: Okay, Laptops and maybe some new PCs have built in wi-fi, but what about actual routers? Why can't this be done so we can defeat the reason for having another box.

  How to stop bots
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:34 AM - Forum: Automation and bots - Replies (2)

On many sites/forums/blogs etc, there will be an occurrence of those pesky bots, usually spam bots. When it comes to spam bots, how do you stop them from even showing up? Of course there's captcha, and security questions for sign ups, but even those don't always stop them.

What do you do? Do you just ip ban the accounts?

  Best web shop platform
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:33 AM - Forum: Web shops - Replies (2)

What would you all say is the best web shop platform out there. I know of a few off the top of my head like; Etsy, Ebay, Amazon, Bandcamp, just to name a few. What are some that you know of that are worth making a shop of your own with?

  Worse places to outsource?
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:31 AM - Forum: Outsourcing - Replies (2)

What would you say are the worst places to outsource? It is true that many other countries don't speak English well, while some may even rival the US in their own language, what countries would you say to skip with the outsourcing?

I say China is one, as well as India. I know a person who paid someone from each country and their writing wasn't great. Of course there are probably great writers in each country, he just happened to get ones with poor English.

  Going to write an e-book
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:29 AM - Forum: Writing Ebooks - Replies (2)

I've decided. I will be writing an e-book this summer. I don't know what I plan to write right now, but it'll be something about the internet. I have yet to figure out the spin of things yet, but I'll get there. I have some questions though. Once I think of the subject, should I just start writing and not worry about proper grammar and form right away? I plan to use the services of a proofreader before actually making it legit.

Also, should I go with a publisher or just go self published? or should I stick with just e-book overall?

Lets go back to a trading society
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:27 AM - Forum: Money and Society - Replies (3)

To me, I constantly wonder why we even need money. We should go back to the days where we would just trade food, clothing, items and so on instead of spending paper on them. I understand the world wants an economy, but we could easily survive if we just traded.

  Did Heartbleed effect you?
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:25 AM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (4)

If anyone doesn't remember, Heartbleed was or is a security threat that was found in https protocols or something along those lines. I heard that it had gone unnoticed for around two years or so, so they might have gotten thousands if not, millions of passwords. Did anyone here get effected by it? Thankfully I didn't from what I can tell, but it does still worry me how easy some can get hacked.

What do you think about this?

Also, read some more on this here (Updated news on how the good guys are taking over heartbleed to catch hackers, story about heartbleed should be there though):

Should start our own freelance site
Posted by: Steven G. - 05-02-2014, 04:21 AM - Forum: Freelancers - Replies (2)

Has anyone here thought about starting their own freelance site? I wonder if we all could go in together and start our own freelance site and see where things go? Anyone thought of doing this? Would you actually team up with someone? Or would you rather go in on it your own?
