Does Wordpress have a spam blocker?

I was wondering if Wordpress has some sort of spam blocker built in? I ask because I hate spam, it's the worst. My last site's comment section was full of spam and I hated it. I just want to make sure my wordpress site doesn't get spammed to oblivion.
