If they are willing to pay for special design, I'm willing to do the programming. Pricing is hard the first few times. People are afraid to lose the customer if the price is to high. A very simple website with no nothing, customer uploads text and images. I install WP, plugins, template and do a little setup... No less than $2K! Most 'normal' sites I will make for something like $5K and if it is a webshop de luxe... I wont even mention the price .-) RE: Do you make your own templates? - Affinity - 12-09-2013 Same for me. I started charging $500 for a site that took months because the owner changed her mind over and over again... Gradually I raised the price and I guess Ill charge nearly the same as Krantz. I might be interested in buying one, also what kind of websites that you make? Do you make templates for website that holds files for users to download? And if you don't mind, why do you think people should pay you 1000$ for templates. Thanks RE: Do you make your own templates? - Krantz - 12-11-2013 (12-10-2013, 03:00 PM)shiloh Wrote:(12-09-2013, 06:07 AM)Krantz Wrote: Pricing is hard the first few times. If we buy a template for $50-$70 there is a lot of work included in customizing it. Not just the normal setup but often a lot of extra css work. When I set a price on a website I have to think about: Taxes My pension Who is financing my vacation - cant make money in those weeks Computer equipment Rent My education - can't make money while learning new products What if I get sick Transportation (to and from customers) Hiring external designers etc. Just to mention a few... RE: Do you make your own templates? - dan213 - 12-12-2013 I don't make my own themes entirely, but I do tweak themes that allow tweaking. Sometimes changing the background or some other minor tweaks can make all the difference and improve the the theme a bunch! RE: Do you make your own templates? - Christine - 02-22-2014 Themes can cost quite a bit. I have made a few of my own themes, some that weren't that great, while others I really fell in love with. I like buying premium themes once in a while, but I don't like to overdo it. I don't always buy premium. |
